Biography
Mrs. Sheila Hughes is in her fourth year at North Hopewell-Winterstown (NHW) Elementary and twelfth school year in the Red Lion Area School District. Before joining the team at NHW, Mrs. Hughes served as the principal at Windsor Manor Elementary (2018-2021) and Clearview Elementary (2013-2018). She is committed to collaborating with the families, staff, and students to create a safe, nurturing, and inviting learning environment.
Mrs. Hughes holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Bloomsburg University in Elementary and Special Education. In Central Pennsylvania, Mrs. Hughes taught special education at the elementary and middle school levels before serving as an elementary assistant principal for two school years in a rural school district near Harrisburg, PA. Mrs. Hughes holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Bloomsburg University and her Principal and Supervisory of Special Education Certificates from Shippensburg University. In 2015, she received her Reading Specialist certificate. She is pursuing her doctorate in educational leadership at Immaculata University, is ABD (All But Dissertation), and is actively working on finalizing her research and dissertation.
Mrs. Hughes has been married for 17 years and resides in the Red Lion Area School District with her husband, John, and daughters, Reagan (9) and Reese (7), who are also students at North Hopewell-Winterstown Elementary. In her free time, Mrs. Hughes spends time with her family camping or traveling, reading, running, and coaching or supporting her children at their extracurricular activities.
