Mrs. Kelly Maddox is currently the Intervention Specialist at North Hopewell Winterstown Elementary School. In her role, she works with students identified as struggling learners who could benefit from additional remediation. Mrs. Maddox has been a classroom teacher, Instructional Support Teacher and Reading Specialist in public school systems and private institutions in Maryland and Pennsylvania for over twenty years. She currently maintains teaching certificates in both states. Mrs. Maddox earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance/Education from Towson University and a Master’s of Education (At-Risk & Diverse Learners) from Goucher College. As a Post Baccalaureate student at Goucher College, Mrs. Maddox completed the requirements for Reading Specialist and earned a Professional Development Certificate in Reading Instruction. Mrs. Maddox is also a Level 1 Certified Handwriting Specialist for Handwriting Without Tears.
Mrs. Maddox shares her home with her husband, son, canine and feline companions. In her spare time, she enjoys watching her son’s college baseball games, working with her two therapy dogs, Sam and Bean, reading, and attempting to knit.
Mrs. Maddox believes that all students are capable of learning and enjoys working with the children and families at North Hopewell Winterstown.
